Removing the background is useful for product photos, profiles, logos and documents. Depending on your image, there are two paths.
Option 1: plain background (white, green or another color)
If the background is a single color, use Remove Solid Color Background:
- Select your images.
- Let it detect the color from the corners or choose it yourself.
- Adjust the tolerance if any leftovers remain.
- Download the transparent PNG.
It works very well with logos, signatures and products on white. It doesn't use AI, so it can't separate people from complex backgrounds, and if the background has shadows or gradients you need to be careful with the tolerance.
Option 2: complex background, with AI
For a person, a pet or a product in any setting, use Remove a Photo Background with AI. A small artificial intelligence model runs inside your browser: the photo isn't uploaded. The first time it downloads the model (about 20 MB) and then stores it.
It works best with a well-defined subject. Fine hair, fur and delicate edges can come out rough, and if there are several objects it may pick only one. If the result doesn't convince you, try another photo or touch it up afterward.
After removing the background
- You can set a new color (white, for example) in the same tool.
- Crop Image adjusts the framing.
- Add a Border to an Image gives a framed finish.
- For paperwork, Passport and Visa Photo fits it to the required size.
Tips for better results
- Use sharp photos with good light.
- Avoid a subject that's the same color as the background.
- Save as PNG to keep the transparency.
