Many applications ask for photos with exact dimensions. You can prepare them at home and just take the sheet to be printed.
Before you start: take a good photo
- Facing the camera, head straight, neutral expression.
- Even lighting, with no shadows on your face or the background.
- Plain background (a white wall works).
- No filters or retouching.
Step by step
- Open Passport and Visa Photo and select your photo.
- Choose the size: 51×51 mm (US visa and passport), 35×45 mm (Schengen, UK and others), 50×70 mm (Canada), 33×48 mm (China visa), a child size or custom dimensions.
- Drag the photo and use the zoom to fit your face inside the frame.
- Choose the background color.
- Download the photo as a JPG at 300 ppi, or the 10×15 cm sheet with several copies to print on photo paper.
What the tool doesn't do
It only crops, adjusts the size and sets a background color. It doesn't check that your photo meets the official requirements (face position, expression, lighting, accessories). It also doesn't separate your figure from the background: if your background isn't plain, first use Remove Solid Color Background or Remove a Photo Background with AI.
Always check the official rules
Every country and procedure has its own requirements. In Mexico, for example, the passport photo is normally taken at the office itself, but it's worth confirming with the SRE whether they ask for photographs in your case. For a visa, check the consulate or embassy website.
Other useful tools
Crop Image and Resize images are handy when you're asked for a size in pixels, for example to upload the photo to a portal.
