SVG is a vector format: it can be enlarged without losing sharpness, but not every program or social network accepts it. Converting it to PNG makes it compatible everywhere.

Choose a large width (2048 or 4096 px) if you're going to print or enlarge the image. The PNG keeps the SVG's transparency.
