Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, and your files never leave your device.

Does it keep images and tables?

No. Only the text is extracted. Images and tables aren't rebuilt.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

No, because they're images without text. The tool will let you know.

Which programs open the result?

Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs, and Pages.

About this tool

This tool extracts the text from the PDF and arranges it in paragraphs, with headings and bold when it detects them. It's ideal for text PDFs: letters, contracts, reports, notes.

It doesn't rebuild the original layout: images, tables, and complex columns aren't kept the same, and the document may need adjustments. For that you'd need a desktop program.

Scanned PDFs (photos of pages) have no text to extract, and this tool doesn't include text recognition (OCR).
