Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed inside your browser, and your files never leave your device.

Which quality should I use?

Between 70% and 80% is a good balance. For images that will be viewed large, go up to 85% or more.

What if the image was already optimized?

If the result would be larger than the original, we give you back the original file and let you know.

About this tool

A phone photo can weigh 5 MB or more. At 70% to 80% quality and 1920 px wide, it almost always drops below 500 KB with no visible difference to the naked eye.

Images are converted to JPG or WebP for the biggest reduction. If you need to keep transparency, use WebP.

It's useful for online procedures with a size limit, emails with heavy attachments, and for improving your page's loading speed.
